Call
for Authors, Columnists, and Book Reviewers
Have you ever been invited to
write a chapter or section of a book that included a
big-name author? Have you ever gotten all excited when
the phone rings and a publisher says they want to
include YOU in their next book?
After a few minutes, you find out that they want you
to buy 500 books, which you can resell and make a
"significant" profit. Maybe that's not such a bad
idea, you think. Until they tell you that the books
will cost you over $6.00 a piece and you know you can
print 500 books for half that price and that most
books never sell 500 copies, let alone 500 copies each
from the 50 authors they include in the book.
Maybe you still want to write the book section because
it’s worth three grand to you to be a "published
author." After all, you can tell all your friends that
you wrote a book with "so-and so."
How would you like to be a published (real
print book) author and NOT PAY?
Here's the deal: You write articles for our various
websites. You get a link back to your website in your
author bio--just like on any other article directory.
We won't translate your article into a foreign
language that won't do you a bit of good. We won't put
linking text ads in your article. And we won't bury
your article so no one can find it. If we like what
you have to say and how you write, we may invite you
to write for us. And we won't charge you. In fact, we
might even pay you.
Guidelines:
Article must be fresh content on the specific subject
we target, such as home improvement, credit, real
estate investing, psychology, education, and book
reviews.
You agree to not publish the article content on any
other website for one week. After one week, you can
publish the article with a new title anywhere you
want.
You agree that we can offer edit suggestions to
improve your article, such as a title change for
improved reader attention or readability. We may
respond with ideas and suggestions for you to
consider. However, we will make no changes to your
article without your approval.
Please understand that we only seek quality content
and not all articles will be approved. Articles must
be yours or written by a ghost writer who will not
reveal your source. (We know ghost writers who can
help you polish your articles for a reasonable fee.)
Family Trust Publishing activity seeks authors to
contribute to upcoming books. You may be invited
to join our special author group that meets once a
week by phone and get the inside scoop on content
under production.
Article Guidelines:
Title must be catchy and make
good use of keywords.
Write short paragraphs for online reading. If we later
publish your article in print book format, you may be
asked to change the format.
Use strong verbs. Articles with too many passive verbs
(is, are) will be rejected.
Don't use "it, they, he," when
you can use a descriptive noun.
Put commas inside quotes.
Don't indent paragraphs.
Only put one space between sentences. You use a modern
computer, not a typewriter. Computers put the right
spacing after periods.
Add a space between paragraphs. White space on the
computer screen makes reading easier.
Try to talk to "you" and not about yourself too much.
People read articles to get help or to get
information. They want to know "what's in it for me?"
Use few adverbs (knowingly, slowly).
Avoid "ing" words. "Running to the Bank" reads better
"Run to the Bank."
Article length preferred: 450 - 750 words.
Article must be formatted in a plain text editor.
You may use bold, italics, bullets, and numbers in
HTML codes. We encourage you to learn how to make your
articles look great.
